Chiller LLC was established first as the Central Ohio Ice Rinks in October, 1993 with the opening of the first Chiller ice skating facility and only twin ice rink in central Ohio, Chiller Dublin. The facility is a public/private venture with the City of Dublin, which owns the land on which the Chiller is located.
Since 1993, Chiller Dublin has served more than 700,000 people each year as a safe and enjoyable venue for ice skating. Its original purpose for public skating and to serve as a practice facility for the then ECHL team, the Columbus Chill, has now evolved to include one the nation's largest skating and hockey lesson programs, amateur hockey programming and figure skating competitions.
The overwhelming success of Chiller Dublin and the increasing demand for ice time in central Ohio, prompted the Chiller LLC to open a second facility in November, 1997 on the northeast side of town in the new Easton Town Center shopping and entertainment complex. Chiller Easton was opened with similar goals in mind; to offer public skating opportunities to the area, skating and hockey lessons and special programming for hockey and figure skating. The response was once again extraordinary. As the interest in skating continued to soar, the Chiller LLC found that central Ohio could definitely sustain two facilities.
The third facility under Chiller LLC management came with the rush of a new NHL hockey team and new, state-of-the-art arena downtown. The Dispatch Ice Haus was built as part of Nationwide Arena to serve as the practice ice rink for the Columbus Blue Jackets and is the only practice facility in the NHL that is attached to the arena where the team plays. When the facility's doors opened to the public in October, 2000, Chiller LLC was selected to manage the facility and offer public skating opportunities at the rink.
Chiller LLC looked North for its next location and opened Chiller North in Lewis Center in the Fall of 2004. Chiller North is Central Ohio's premier hockey and skating facility with two rinks, a pro shop, seating for 1000 spectators and much more.
All four facilities have far exceeded the expectations set for their success. The ever-rising interest and involvement in skating in central Ohio has brought hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Chillers and Dispatch Ice Haus over the last 13 years, and these premier facilities have risen to the challenge and delivered the best in ice quality and service. |
