Goals Gym at OhioHealth Chiller North (8144 Highfield Drive, Lewis Center, OH 43035)

Limited to 12 athletes per session.

Coached by Corey Zuvela, Chiller Director of Strength & Conditioning

Goals Gym's 6-week Spring Sports Performance Training Program will prepare players for movements/exercises more specific to ice hockey and the higher training intensities that are programmed in a summer training program. The spring training program will consist of higher repetition (8-15 repetitions) movements/exercises using light-to-moderate intensities, and sessions will conclude with conditioning. This training method aims to increase players' muscular endurance and muscle size. Players with multiple years to zero training experience can benefit from this training method.

Training sessions will include the following:

  • Mobility/stability exercises
  • Muscle activation exercises (prepare muscles for the training session)
  • Dynamic warm-up
  • Acceleration/change-of-direction work
  • Upper-body and lower-body power (jumping and throwing)
  • Resistance training (using barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands and bodyweight)
  • Conditioning

Cost: $180

Goals Gym Summer Sports Performance Training Program

Summer is the time for ice hockey players to work on their individual athletic potential. Ice hockey requires players to possess upper- and lower-body strength and power, mobility and stability in specific joints, reactive ability, and the capacity to repeat these qualities. Goals Gym's Summer Sports Performance Program will target these required qualities in each training session. Throughout the summer, multiple programming variables, an example being number of sets or repetitions, are manipulated to maximize the players' readiness for the start of the season. Come start the journey toward increasing your athletic potential!

Training Sessions Include:

  • Mobility (ankle, hips and upper back)
  • Muscle Activation (prepare muscles for the session)
  • Dynamic Warm-up
  • Speed (sprinting, rapid muscle contractions)
  • Power Training (moving bodyweight and/or an object rapidly)
  • Resistance Training (using resistance bands, bodyweight, dumbbells, kettlebells, etc.)
  • Conditioning (time permitting)
